I've been singing and writing songs, since the 7th grade. That was over 40 years ago. I've evolved through all the "flavor of the month" music, and I've pretty much settled with hard rock, blues and country. I've won awards for my blues harmonica playing back in my youth and have written dozens of good songs, with great "hooks", over the years. I believe that it's clever hooks and good lyrics that make the song. The musicianship alone, does not always carry the popularity of the song, and when it has ALL the elements, then you can't help but love it.
