Classical guitarist Frank Galante draws his repertoire from a period spanning close to five hundred years. Frank also plays lute, vihuela and Baroque guitar. Having started with the cello at the age of ten. he switched to guitar at fourteen, spending much of the next twenty years as a blues guitarist playing throughout the Northeast. Since 1985, he has devoted his attention solely to the study of classical guitar. His academic training includes three semesters as a music major in the city college system in New York City and performance workshops at Julliard, as well a twenty years study with Helen Bates-one of the co-founders of the Guitar Study Center at Manhattan's New School. He has also studied with David Leisner (guitar) and Pat O'Brien (lute & vihuela). He has performed in cafes, restaurants, at corporate affairs and weddings, and in galleries from the Great Lakes to Amsterdam.
