The Beginning of a Civil War.

May of 2002: Scott Starr and Kevin Dunphy met as two young and inspired college students at a local bike shop in Madison, Wisconsin. Scott had been working part-time building bikes and repairing old donations while Kevin was in search for an old vintage cruiser he'd use to commute to class and his part-time job at a local campus restaurant. The two hit it off in the shop that day and spoke of epiphanies, their daily revelations, and the current state of the local Madison music scene.

After much debate, they agreed that much work was to be done and that the Flaming Lips were currently ahead of everyone else while Richard Pryor remained the funniest man in American comedy. Scott sold Kevin a bike that afternoon and after a few chance encounters later, reunited in Scott's basement with melodies and decisions on hand.

Scott and Kevin began writing and recording shortly after their first rehearsal together. Once graduated, the two made the decision to move out to Hollywood to record and pursue a recording contract. It didn't take long to realize that LA was not the place for their aspirations. They needed time, space, and an environment that would allow them to create and produce the sounds they were imagining.

They moved to Chicago in early 2005 where they began recording at a local studio 4 blocks away from their apartment. After countless hours and sleepless nights, the two came down hard on their sound and worked to achieve something that would reflect their original artistic vision. They realized that more time, space, and freedom were needed to discover their individual style, so in October 2006 they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and rented out an old debunked shoe factory in Milwaukee's Historic Fifth Ward. There they'd be allowed to live, breath, rehearse and record on their own time and schedule. They could create without limits and produce the album they'd been working towards.

Combining Scott's taste for Classical music, The Everly Brothers, Oasis, and American Folk with Kevin's penchant for The Who, The Police and his stash of early vinyl soul records, the duo acquired a sound all their own. Their live shows display chemistry, power, intelligence and originality resulting in a strong response wherever they perform.

Local radio loves Fever Marlene, as well. In fact, Milwaukee 102.1 Alternative has been using the bands rough mix material as sound beds for the station over the past couple of months and just added “Red Fire” to the playlist, making Fever Marlene the 1st local band in 10 years to achieve such status.

Fever Marlene is a self-contained artistic machine. They write, paint, design, perform and create. They designed, built and maintain their own website, they create their own graphics, they produced, filmed, and edited their own “Red Fire” music video and they write music daily in the 4000 sq. ft. loft they share in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With a star quality and a creative depth rarely seen, Fever Marlene has over 6 hours of hook-laden written material. According to Milwaukee 102.1 Alternative there are already at least 5 singles on their upcoming album, “Civil War”. Their goals are simple; to release their record and tour as far as the world will let them and get right back in the studio and do it again.
