Eldad Tarmu is an American vibraphonist and composer born on August 26, 1960 in Los Angeles, California. He began his music career as a drummer in various local rock bands with which he toured in the US and Canada. Upon graduating as a percussionist from the Grove Music School, he became more and more interested in the chromatic percussive instruments, and especially the vibraphone. In 1987 he moved to Israel where he continued his activity as a jazz performer and composer. He returned to the States in 1992, released his first jazz CDs and toured extensively all over the world. In 2005 he got his Masters degree in Afro-Latin music from the California State University Los Angeles, consequently being invited to teach at a newly founded Jazz Faculty in Western Romania, where he released a CD that crosses jazz and ethnic styles with the classical music. He is currently living and teaching in the New York area and collaborating with symphonic orchestras in Eastern Europe.
