East of West is more than just a band name, but rather the story of two artists with one vision - to create “feel good” music! Steve Jeffrey and John Cardoso, maintain a balance as co-writers and co-producers on Crossing Borders, an uplifting interpretation of contemporary jazz. Recorded at The Complex in Los Angeles, California, this CD features world renowned musicians; Andy Suzuki on saxophones (David Benoit , Kilauea, Dave Brubeck,Chick Corea), Ron Pedley on piano/keys (Barry Manilow, Air Supply, Kombo), and Bob Fernandez on percussion (Barry Manilow, Frank Zappa, Dionne Warwick, Tito Puente).
At the time of production, Steve and John decided to name their project East of West to reflect the musical influences and synergies that existed in both geographical locations. This dynamic team united in Boston to embark upon their musical aspirations and collaborate unique musical writing styles. Subsequently, Steve and John rejoined in Los Angeles to record and produce the CD.

Crossing Borders – the beat of African log-drums start the listener on a musical path that depicts the realization of change and progress across all aspects of life.
Second Wind - this high-energy composition brings the listener through a series of emotional highs. A roller coaster of soloing leaves the listener thinking, “Just when you thought it was over you get your second wind.”
Twilight Mood – a soothing composition that brings the listener to a mellowing transition that moves day into the spirited coolness of the evening breeze quelling the hurried soul.
Coast to Coast – mix one roaring sax with some tasty Latin odd-meter and the listener ends up with a quick trip to Brazil. Pour yourself a drink and kick back.

Steve Jeffery is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he majored in Music Performance and Composition. John Cardoso is a graduate from both the Grove School of Music and Five Towns College, where he majored in Music Education and Performance.
East of West is currently booking performances and preparing to commence on an east coast tour in the spring of 2007.
