The Life of DJ XceL
Xavier Lewis also known as the former rapper and dj, DJ XceL, was born on March 11, 1991. He grew up excelling in football and other sports like basket-ball and base-ball. But early in his life he had a passion for music. He never decided to follow that dream though because he wanted to concentrate on school and sports. All through Xavier's life, he was a stright A student and had a record for never getting a B. But then at the age of six he found a stop watch and began to make beats in his head and rap to them. He would time his raps with this stop watch, and create the normal three and a half to four minute song. He continued to rap in his own with out ever writing a lyric. Finally, at the age of eight, him and his sister Ashley Lewis, currently known as Lil' A-ray, attempted to write a song. The song didn't come out as they expected it to. They thought the song was horrible. So all this did was discourage the young song writer. He continued just making rhymes with out writing them down. His family and friends tried to encourage him to write the songs down but he would still refuse to do so. About a year later, his mom and dad got a divorce. His dad soon got married to a woman named Cody. And his mom also moved on and got with the current producer Prophecy. This pereiod of divorce lasted a long time almost stretching to four years. Xavier's dad fought to have them full time and that almost happend. Xavier and his sister Ashley only see there mom every other weekend. Just enough time to create two or three tracks. But before their dad got them for as much time as he does now, Xavier's mom had them for most of the time. This wass the perfect time to get to know Indy Jones (Indy J), Jamie Jones, and Prophecy. He became good friends with the whole family. Xavier was amazed by Indy's amazing voice and ability to dance. He was also amazed by Jamie's ability to pop and lock. Xavier to this day doesn't think anyone can dance better than Jamie. Finally, Prophecy has an awesome voice and could sing better than most singers that ever lived. It was obvious that the whole family had talent. A fews years later Xavier began to write his lyrics. He didn't think they were the best and thought that he needed practice. So practice he did. Then he gave himself the title of Docta "X". Then he got his first set of turntables. They were okay sets but there were much better out there. Then he got a new set of turntables. They were Gemini's. These are the kind that he still has today. He decided to change his name to DJ XceL, based on him being a dj and also if you say his first and last anitials (XL) sounds like excell. He continued to write lyrics and finally he came up with the master peace called Paper Chase. He showed the rhymes to Prophecy. Prophecy liked them and agreed to track him. The song was created and everybody liked it. So Xavier continued to write songs. This is where he is currently. This is just the beginning for the young artist, DJ XceL.
