Dave Mackay is a pianist, composer and producer. Born in Leicestershire, England, he first took up the piano at the age of six, and soon realised his passion in life. His appetite for music motivated him into expanding his fields of expertise beyond piano performance, and he soon began composing, mixing, and producing.

In 2003, he was offered a place at the Royal College of Music Junior Department in London where he studied both classical and jazz methodology for six years, alongside his regular schooling. Upon leaving the institution, Dave was awarded the Esther Coleman prize for outstanding contribution to the department. He now studies at the well-established Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. A scholarship student, Dave has become a first call session musician and engineer for project based work, and intends to pursue a five-year dual major in Contemporary Writing & Production and Film Scoring, while maintaining a lively performance schedule.

Dave has quickly made himself known in the music scene at Berklee and beyond, and has been working with several up and coming artists including Dwight Rivera, JP Bouvet and Ryan Saranich. This includes performances, recordings and clinics/workshops in North Carolina, USA. Currently Dave is producing and engineering an album for 'Ryan Saranich & The All-Star Quintet'. In addition to the production work, Dave is also writing material for the record and playing Hammond Organ on several tracks.

Aside from his work in America, Dave's recent noteworthy performances include appearances at the London Jazz Festival, The Mayor's Thames Festival and participation in a choral performance for HRH Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey, London. Dave has also composed music for several theatre productions, the most recent of which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2009.

His ongoing composition and performances are a reflection of his talent, hard work, energy and dedication to music, showcasing his versatility and uniqueness as a musician and a person. His warm attitude and professional manner not only add to his personality, but also make him a great candidate to collaborate with on any level; be it playing, writing, recording or touring.
