Camaxe is the name of a beach on the island « A Illa de Arousa » in Galicia.

Camaxe's first cd came out in 2005. Since then the group performed on various stages in Belgium and abroad. The music gradually evolved from the rather intimistic studio work to live performances full of energy.

The sound of characteristic instruments like gaita, pito and pandereita is merged with more common folk instruments. The compositions are inspired by the Galician tradition and played in arrangements in which a multitude of influences can be heard.

Modern life and the impact is has on everyone and everything is an important theme for Camaxe, who feels the need to communicate about it to its audience.
