Singer/songwriter Tom Wood debuts his “Trailrider Project” with a straight-ahead classic rock sound. Rasping vocals, driving guitar licks and insanely intricate bass lines combine with Wood’s clever lyrics in songs that are as accessible as they are original.

Bio

In a hole in the frozen ground somewhere Southern Ontario, an unexpected bit of magic happened during the winter.

When singer/songwriter Tom Wood (a.k.a. "Trailrider") began recording in a basement studio with friends and bandmates from "Stackwall" shortly after Christmas, he had only intended to set down a simple demo of some of his recent material.

But what began as a demo recording session became a four-day collaboration in which three songs grew into something unexpected. Day-by-day, as the sound evolved, everyone listening knew something magical was coming to life, with an original, yet oddly familiar, classic-rock feel... and a few happy accidents helped it along the way.

When "Stackwall" drummer Gregg Lawson was unavailable, studio owner Gary Brown’s thirteen year-old son Brayden was invited to take a crack at the drums. And CRACK was the word! Brayden's hammering snare sizzles through the tracks like a metronome of pure, clean energy.

Glenn Belcher (former guitarist with Canadian band "Moving Targetz") dropped in to add some driving guitar leads behind Wood’s raspy vocals and stayed on to lend a hand with engineering the final product.

For keyboards, Wood called on two bandmates, unsure who would be available for a morning session. When both showed up to add their talents to the project, the magic continued.

Peter Witt (keyboard player for "Stackwall") provided the pounding honky-tonk piano that trades off with Wood's harmonica on "Nothin' Serious
