When you talk to Seaside California-based rapper B.I.G.T.I.M.E. and hear him talk about his family
his faith in God his ambitions and love for his music it?s hard to square this warm-voiced man with the
hardcore street realities in his lyrics. He?s a kid who was raised well-his name stands for Believing In
God To Inspire Me Eternally-but got into a couple of bad situations, both of which landed him in
prison. But he?s come out of it with a positive attitude that gives his music an uplifting feel that you
don?t often get from street-oriented hip-hop.

?Yeah, I?ve seen both sides of the fence, ?he says, ?I know about life. I know struggle. I know about
wanting to make it so bad that you?ll do anything for it-and that?s how I feel about my music. This is
just the beginning-I?ve got two more albums already written.?

B.I.G.T.I.M.E.?s debut disc, Time Iz Money,? runs the gamut from the hard-hitting West Coast-flavor
of Twist up Tha Dub? to more rhythmically complex tracks like Gangsta?s Madi-gra? and These
Streets? The album has a groove that?s hard enough for the streets but smooth enough for clubs all
of which reflect the music that the Memphis-born rapper (whose real name is Danier Becton) was
raised on, ?Earth Wind & Fire, Teddy Pendergrass, The Barkays, Willi Hutch were soundtracks to his
childhood, but the person B.I.G.T.I.M.E. consider his ?mentor? is his mom. ?I get my talent from her,
?he says ?she?s a gospel singer-?She even got as far as signing a deal with Sun Records back in the
day, but the contract wasn?t up to par and she basically stopped. But she?s always supported and
advised me, and from her experience I learned to be cautious about the business.? As he got older,
he was influenced by rappers, particularly 2pac, Notorious Big, Eric B. & Rakim and, N.W.A.? The
combination of those influences has given him a rapping style that?s as melodic as it is powerful. ?I
was a singer first , so when it comes to writing catchy hooks and singing R&B melody over tracks
it?s no sweat.? B.I.G.T.I.M.E. also writes Gospel music and has several projects to be released in the
near future. His brother and labelmate P.A.P.E.R. and sister Tammy Becton both appear on
B.I.G.T.I.M.E.?s first album ?Married To The Game? which sold 11,000 units underground, word of
mouth, some retail promotions.

Seaside California might not be a hotbed of the hip-hop world just yet, but B.I.G.T.I.M.E. intends to
let the world know about him and his crew before he?s done. There?s a lot of talent here and it?s
growing fast, he says. Nobody?s really made it yet but the fire is burning and we?re definitely on the
rise.
