Biograpy

Bigfella, born Cassell James has loved music for as long as he can remember. He remembers his teenage years in moments of tranquility sitting on his porch and staring up at the stars. He’d listened to the radio playing music that touched his soul as the sounds of the city continued around him. Many times Cassell imagined music videos in his head as he related to the artist and their songs on the radio.
As a youth Cassell was in church choirs and often performed speeches before audiences in church and school. With this he discovered he loved the energy of the crowds who appreciated what he spoke from the soul. From the soul…at a young age Cassell was coached by his mom to put heart and soul into his words and this became his trademark as speeches became raps.

Cassell writes simple raps/songs about complex things: love, family, home, heaven. Your emotions will connect, you’ll smile, maybe even cry. You will bob your head to the beat even though you've never heard the song before.

Cassell has performed before thousands young and old alike, bringing a message of love, peace and morality/spirituality. Rapping and writing under the pseudonym Bigfella, his flow and delivery are powerful. Cassells stage presence is captivating as he stands 6’5 with muscular frame the former football player wows his audience. Rap influences included Common, The Roots, Tupac, Biggie Smalls and many others.
Cassells performances have taken him to local events and festivals all over the Chicagoland area. Cassell has written all of his raps and has successfully connected with producers that helped to bring forth a unique Chicago soul to life in his music. Being a father to his children and a provider for his family early on resulted in Cassell putting music on the back burner but the fire never stop burning. In 2003 Cassell set out to establish himself as a rapper perfecting his flow and nurturing a deeper love for the soul in music. Cassell is currently in the studio recording an album to be released Summer 2005.
