Ben Chew is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, with a background in jazz, rock, and world music. He plays guitar, bass, trumpet, percussion, drums, keyboards, and flute. Ben sings and creates multi-part harmonies on his recordings. He also arranges, produces, and engineers. Ben Chew has played guitar on recording sessions for well known acts, including The O'Jays, The Box Tops, and Rare Earth. As a performer, Ben has shared the stage with artists such as Barenaked Ladies and Jimmy Webb. The recordings that Ben creates are in a variety of different styles. Ben Chew's debut CD, 'California' is a collection of pop and rock songs with an upbeat feeling. The new CD, Rough Seas was released in August of 2001. It is a blending of jazz, world music, new age, and rock instrumental. Ben is currently working on a new set of acoustic vocal tunes and plans to return to live performance this year.
