Autobiography.

Barry Lawton is a singer songwriter from Crewe South Cheshire. He has released two self financed albums 'Enough To Go Around' and 'Brown Lipstick' in 2001 & 2003.

'Enough To Go Around' was recorded with a mainly acoustic feel, containing Lawton standards such as the moving 'Grow Together' the classic pop of 'Prettiest Face' and the uplifting vibe of 'Beautiful'. the albums were recorded with a small nucleus of players, featuring Norman Barratt on lead guitar, bass, drum programming and all production and mastering duties. The keyboards were exquisitely played by Chris Gaskill.

'Brown Lipstick' was an altogether different affair. Though retaining the same unit of players, this album had a much more rounded and fuller sound. The album incorporated different styles and themes, from the bluesy 'The Night She Bit The Bullet' the near perfect balladry of 'Swings And Roundabouts' and the laid bare emotion of 'From Here To The Past' recorded in one take with just piano and vocal.

Live, Barry Lawton is a raw uncompromising performer. With just acoustic guitar and voice, he has plied this route throughout his entire performing life. It is undoubtedly where his songs are best heard. In September 2006, Barry played the final set on the Bar stage on the last night of the Solway festival in Silloth Cumbria.

Barry has web links on myspace. This site features brand new material with titles including 'Margaret Hilda Thatcher' 'She Fly's My flag for Me' and 'She Wanted Everything' the site is updated with new songs as and when they are recorded.

The Review below was taken from the spring 2005 edition of the musician's union magazine, and is their review of 'Brown Lipstick'

'no holds barred for Barry who flies in the face of the usual tenderness of acoustic acts and hits home like a modern day Hugh Cornwell in the late 70's Stranglers.

There are moving touches at work here however , such as the melodic guitar solo opener 'Alone'.
