A Mantle the Sea is a Malaysian-based band formed in 2001 and made up of four longtime friends – Keith (vocals, guitars), Benjamin (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Phyebeng (vocals, guitars, bass) and Adrian (drums, percussion).

Named after an enduring 19th century hymn, A Mantle the Sea is most comfortable pondering life, love and the world in general through its brand of eclectic and cerebral, yet accessible, music.

In 2004, the band released its debut EP. Entitled “Take a Powder”, the four-song record explores the theme of leaving life’s disappointments.

The EP is a fitting introduction to A Mantle the Sea’s genre-bending music, characterized by a unique fusion of melodic guitar-driven powerpop, indie and old-school rock, with hints of Brit-pop, jazz and blues.

The band are working on a full length album targeted for release in late-2005.
