Aliah played in funk rock bands for years before she made her first solo CD, although she has done several one-woman shows combining her songs, dance, spoken word, & comedy about life - at various points. She offers her songs on keys acoustically, adding tenor sax on upbeat tunes with a band. Paz her soulmate/bandmate (Guitar, Bass, Flute, Hand Drums) joins her at shows and they both share celebrations with their jamband SPIRAL ON... (spiralon.com). Their music has featured on radio & TV stations for many Earth & Peace causes: Lilith Fair led to New Thought Events & Festivals - towards videos of ambient soulscapes with a rock edge where Aliah mixes her dance with collage-like visuals. After hosting a happenin' Austin TV show Aliah was led into films & doing Stand Up Comedy about being a Rockaholix. In Santa Cruz now, Paz & Aliah are birthing a new TV/Web Show CREATIVE EVOLUTION - in pre-production with Spiral On & Peacefarm Productions (www.spiralon.com/WeDoTV.htm, www.peacefarm.org).
"Little Shelf" Aliah's unique spokenword & sung performance art song was nominated for a 2008 HOLLYWOOD MUSIC AWARD - Ambient & New Age Categories - after the song was nominated for a LA MUSIC AWARDS in 2007 in Experimental. Aliah says, "This song has a magical birth... only first takes on it-from a jam at the end of a day of recording. One take of Emu guitar by producer Mitch Watkins, Hand drums by Paz & me on vocals- all in one take. Like the song says - found beyond the mind."
