40 Watt Hype is a road tested, all originals, 8 piece hip-hop band. Often compared to Ozomatli, Jurassic 5 and the B-Side Players, 40 Watt Hype blends equal parts hip hop, latin, soul, groove and funk to create its sound.

Their latest CD 'Grand Unification Theory' is produced by Grammy Award Winner Art Hodge, the mastermind behind Fight Club and the Dust Brothers. 'Theory' also features DJ Swamp (Beck) and Walter Miranda (Beastie Boys) on keys.

40 Watt Hype has been sponsored for a second year by Budweiser's True Music Live program, and was recently selected out of 1,700 as a finalist for Discmaker's Music World Series event.

40 Watt Hype has opened for: thePharcyde, Blackalicious, Fishbone, Dislocated Styles and Everton Blender. The band's music has been featured on MTVs Road Rules/Real World Challenge and is the backing music for the title track in Eddie Murphy's 'Adventures of Pluto Nash', as well as musical additions to the Ice Cube movie 'Torque'.
