You can't help but know it when you hear it: this is the soundtrack in your head as you flew through the concrete-and-tiff neighborhoods at sundown on your trusty two-wheeler, given voice at last in the sparkling debut EP “Ironwood” from The Union Throttle. Sprung seamlessly, like Athena, from the head of North Phoenix wunderkind Brian Buzard, this is your innocence and truth, finally come of age.
No neophyte navel-gazing here: Guitar is God in the Union Throttle universe, and avatar Buzard delivers a nonstop manna of enough fresh-and-tasty popcrunch to sate your ever-evolving quest for something real. The melodies surge with a gleaming momentum, the lyrics hold forth with the smarts of a veteran who has been stripped clean again by the power of his own honest reflection. The Union Throttle will have you caught and landed from the very first listen.
"Ironwood EP" is scheduled for an August 2004 release

Brian was that towheaded kid riding his motocross next to you, growing up in Deer Valley Arizona, believing in the bigtime band dream from his first days in hell-hot carports, wailing on cardboard guitars (drums by Tupperware), and burning through set lists heavy on the three chord rock. As crackerjack in front of a drum kit and a microphone as he is on any guitar, The Union Throttle is Brian Buzard's purest and most accomplished work yet; it is straight-ahead dare I say it: Rock And Roll. -And isn't that what you've always been racing to, after all?
