Thad Wheeler composer/percussionist, lives in New York City and is director of The Wheeler Project, which he formed in 1992. Thad collaborates with his wife, Francesca Vanasco on producing and writing for theater. Their work Butterfly Dreams was premiered in the spring of 2004. The rock oratorio, Justine's Red, based on two novels by Marquis De Sade, was performed in numerous NYC rock clubs in 2007-2008. Thad's latest project entitled Cinema Songs was premièred on June 4th, 2010 in New York City by the Empire Opera Company. Cinema Songs is a collection of theater songs based on characters and situations found in American cinema of the last 80 years.

Thad has been recording and touring internationally with Steve Reich since 1989. The recording of Thad's composition The Dancing Bird:A Suite in Six Movements was produced by Novalight Arts for Albany Records in 1994. He has played and/or assistant conducted numerous Broadway shows the latest being 'Gypsy' with Patti Lupone. He is currently subbing on 'West Side Story'. Thad has toured with Liza Minnelli and Ray Charles. He has performed on many cast albums as well as performing at Radio City Music Hall.
