Story Behind The Song

This song was written about a fictional sheep that is part of a flock. A metaphor for any one of us living in society and perhaps feeling limited by our environment. So he dreams about where else he could go and follows the fantasy to the point of supreme power. Realizing that power corrupts, he decides that his own limitations are acceptable and that one should be content with who they are.

and Hermann was there and Hermann wandered all day
one day hermann wondered if his pasture was the end
and that night he dreamed that he flew with the wind
he flew beyond his microcasm over fields he knew
he thought of life without a shepherd so much yet to do
