Story Behind The Song
Most songwriters have a story about a song that just "came to them." This song was like that for me. I had ended a relationship and I could tell there was a song buzzing around in the back of my head. One day I sat down with my guitar and tape recording, and it was as if I was taking dictation from a muse up above. The song literally came to me in about 20 minutes, and though I added the last chorus a few days later, I have never changed a word. Sometimes you need to know when to leave well enough alone.

Lyrics
You can say you think I?m pretty / You can say you like my songs
You might say that you think that I?m okay / But I?m not trying anymore
You might see something in me / You ain?t never seen before
Just don?t go trying to get to know me / ?Cause I?m not trying anymore
It?s not that I want to be alone /?Cause nothing?s farther from the truth
But my heart is always achin? / It comes with too much breakin?,
And I can?t afford the dreaming of my youth.
Maybe you think you?re different / Think you?ve got the key to that door
I think it?s only fair to warn you / I?m not trying anymore
I?m not the only one who feels alone / Your eyes tell me you?re feeling that way too
I can see that you?re just waiting / Standing there, debating
Wondering if the words I say are true
Maybe you?re really different / You just might have the key to this door
It?s getting harder now to fight you / And I?m not trying anymore
I?m not trying anymore
