Story Behind The Song
I like the imagery of a landscape of rooftoops (ala mary poppins) But the chin-chiminy song wasnt right for me.
Song Description
Open tunings on guitar give unusual voicings an open jangly sound which is a little more sophisticated than the common jangles. The nature metaphores (sand-storms, land-slides, quick sand and stepping stones) convey relationship challenges and instil faith that they will be over-come. The bridge is an unexpected break in the bright energetic mood, slipping subtly in, and then out of dark fatalism.

Lyrics
Little Birds
Caught up in a land slide,
But I intend to hold you any way I can,
I intend to be your footfall,
I will be your solid ground.
Caught up in a sand storm,
But I intend to find you any way I can,
I intend to be your road home,
Even though our tracks are gone.
Coz you opened my window, laid hope on my ledge,
And carried me over the rooftops,
Lifted my head up and laid down my cares,
And carried me over the rooftops,
Like a little bird.
Caught up in quicksand,
But I intend to reach you any way I can,
I intend to be your stepping stone,
I will be your helping hand.
Coz you opened my window, laid hope on my ledge,
And carried me over the rooftops,
Lifted my head up and laid down my cares,
And carried me over the rooftops,
Like a little bird.
Do we get what we want,
Do we not let fate deal up our lot,
And question not, the hand that we've got.
Caught up in rising water,
But I intend to hold you any way I can,
I intend to be your dry land,
I will be your stepping stone.
I will be your stepping stone.
I will bring you home
Coz you opened my window, laid hope on my ledge,
And carried me over the rooftops,
Lifted my head up and laid down my cares,
And carried me over the rooftops,
You are my cornerstone, I will be yours,
I'll carry you over the rooftops,
Like a little bird.
