Story Behind The Song
This tune was originally written for a movie by the same name in which I held a leading role. It was a coming of age story and all characters seemed to be struggling to break free from the influences of family...and make their own way in the world. I expanded on that idea and pondered how each of us has that stuggle going on to some extent. "Distant Tribes" is the result. Hope you like it.

Lyrics
Distant Tribes
Copyright 2005, Sean Michael McMann
Rattled...
Awake, in the middle of a twisted dream
And now, you know, my life seems a bit less pristine
What am I waitin' for?
I've been saddled...
With a little bit too much responsibility
And everyone wants a little piece of me
What are they lookin' for?
I know I should follow my own voice
Yet, it's just a whisper to their drum
I know, I should make my own choices...
But I keep hearing voices...
From distant tribes...
Distant tribes...
Jaded...
Somehow the glamour's faded from my every move
The fickle hand of fate has got a lot to do
With who I've become
Am I crazy?
These voices in my head direct my every move
They're tellin' me that I've got nothing left to prove
And still, I live for you
I shake a clenched fist at the sky
Fruitless fit of rage
I wrote the book, but someone took
The most important page
