Story Behind The Song
This song is about the peacefulness of living in the country -- and the close connection I feel to the earth and the air and something greater than all of us, when I am there. I grew up in a small farming town and our family had a small walnut tree orchard next to our house, where we spent a lot of time as children running around and playing. This song was written to describe the feeling I have now, when I return home and see the orchard and get an overwhelming sense of peace and being connected to a time that was almost magical in ways that are hard to describe.

Lyrics
Twisted and tangled
Stretching up to that deep blue sky
Soft clouds begin to land
Over worries on my mind
I can still close my eyes
And smell that dark rich earth
And hear that wind
Run its fingers through
Those twisted and crooked limbs
Somehow knowing
Walnut shells lie open
Cracked by their fall to the terre mother
What lies inside, so many secrets
We so badly want to know
But leave them as they are
They?re so much better left observed
So leave them in their peace and their order
We can never truly know
Never truly know
I can tell it?s not just a simple thing
Sometimes it's joy sometimes it's strife
But I ask you to explain, one more time
What is it to this orchard life?
