Story Behind The Song
I had come up with a fingerpicking guitar part that was most hypnotic and gently driving-- like rain. The lyrics came quickly, and I let the song naturally account for my own childhood experiences with rain as an existential phenomenon, and ultimately as a channel to the spirit of my long lost mother.
Song Description
The protagonist loses himself in the ethereal realm of rain--experiences it as ritual washing and catharsis, which opens him to the experience of deep loss and a redemption of sorts

Lyrics
As the rain falls, it washes over me
Falls so fast that I can hardly see
I tilt my head and taste the falling sky
Soothes my face and flows into my eyes
Swirling waters ruch across my feat
And wash away the hurry and the heat
Rain falls... rain washes down on me...rain falls down
As the rain falls, it rustles on the ground
Isolates the moment with its sound
Mystified amid the water's din
Naked to the world as I came in
Sanctified by sheets of falling rain
That wash away the bitter and the stain
Rain falls... rain washes down on me...rain falls down
Sunlight--will you wait awhile and stay your harsh light
Moonlight--though you're beautiful stay hidden this night
Grey light--illuminte the rain that washes me again... Rain
The rain is heavy, falling faster, smoothing down the alabaster
I see your face and with my fingers, try to touch you will not linger... rain
Mother, if the water's spirit, find the rain and be you near it
Kiss my cheek with drops of water, wash the feet of son and daughter...rain
Now the driving rain is stinging, dance the pirouette, start singing
Splash in every pool and puddle...child's play is nothing subtle...
