Story Behind The Song
The song was written on a small island off the coast of Ireland. I was staying with relatives on an island with no cars and the only way to get to the only pub on the island was to work a half hour down a dirt road. Well, it rained all day and my relatives wouldn't let me out of the house to go to the pub so I sat in the house and wrote this song.
Song Description
This song is about feeling inundated with rain, a symbol of depression. Feeling trapped by the constant barrage of life's sadness.

Lyrics
THE RAIN KEEPS COMING DOWN
Well the rain keeps coming down
It makes me prisoner in this house
I said the rain keeps coming down
It makes me prisoner in this house.
I want to see you darling and I hope you understand
That the road?s too cold and long for this tired old man
I want to see you darling but I hear that thunder sound
And the rain keeps coming down,
Lord, the rain keeps coming down.
The sun?s been gone too long
Behind those low hanging clouds
I said the sun?s been gone too long
Behind those low hanging clouds.
I?ve been watching every window waiting for a break
I can hear the sky crying. How much longer will it take?
Before I see you darling but I can?t come around
Cause the rain keeps coming down,
Lord, the rain keeps coming down.
Well the rain keeps coming down
It makes me prisoner in this house
I said the rain keeps coming down
It makes me prisoner in this house.
I want to see you darling and I hope you understand
That the road?s too cold and long for this tired old man
I want to see you darling but I hear that thunder sound
And the rain keeps coming down,
Lord, the rain keeps coming down.
