Story Behind The Song
It's a long one! Somewhere around the age of 19 or 20 I starting playing in an R & B funk band called Baby Fat in Madison, WI The lead vocalist, keyboard player wrote songs and poems. I came in with the music and he had the lyrics. We all thought it was a great song. Fast-forward almost 50 years into the future... I was ready to record the song in the middle of the covid lockdown, and due to misunderstandings in a recent band we were playing in together, he decided his lyrics could not be used. This was after I had recorded the track and it was ready for vocals. Frustrating enough, I took the high road and wrote new lyrics about those old times we had when things were so right. When one door closes, another one opens :)

Lyrics
Here we are together again, after all this time
It's so good to see my old friends
So glad you're doing fine
And if it takes forever and a day
We'll make up for lost time
You know I'll do, whatever it will take,
to ease your mind
When we were young, and so invincible
And thought we could change the world
But looking back on the way things were
It was all just so simple then
Chorus / solo
Somewhere in the back of my mind...
Now it seems so long ago
Memories of when it felt so right
Out playing our music on those summer nights
Here we are together again, after all this time
It's so good to see my old friends
So glad you're doing fine
Here we are together again
Here we are together again
