Story Behind The Song
"Tell me what it is, happening around us? Seems to me this has all taken place before" . This kind of sums up apathy. History has a habit of repeating itself, yet we don't learn. I have always been struck by the way people follow despots like sheep. Politicians manipulate people into submission, but in truth, we simply have to stand up and be counted. We can change the world if we become proactive. I was living in the middle of apartheid when I wrote this song, and I couldn't stand what was going on around us, so I wrote this song in protest.
Song Description
The quest for sanity in a crazy world. The White Dove is the symbol of peace, yet all around us there is war and destruction, and our Doves have turned black. This is an appeal to everyone to change, to turn things around and to seek the greater good for all mankind.

Lyrics
BLACK DOVE
Words & Music © 1982 Graham Noel Abrahams
1.Take a look at what they said would last
Forever
Take a look and tell me what it is
You see
Could it be that we never really understood?
Or, is it just that we never learnt the rules?
Oh, tell me.
2.Is this just another way
for people to pass the time away?
Movin? round in circles always ends the same
Could this be a game
we were never meant to win?
Or is this the very reason
People still try?
CHORUS: Black Dove
Circling high above us
Can?t you come down for a while?
Black Dove
You can see the people?s faces
You can hear the people?s cries
For peace, you turn to white
For peace, you turn to white
Alright.
3. Tell me what it is
Happening around us
Could it be this has all taken place before?
Falling in the trap
that is plain for all to see
There are all those empty spaces
(you) choose the one with the crowd.
CHORUS:
