Simon Elliot is a singer and songwriter and it is the lyric content that sets his songs apart. The songs draw from a variety of styles; they are loosely folk based with touches of pop, country, blues and rock. Originally from New York City, he relocated to Chicago and starting in the late 70s began performing his songs with Lucy Kaplansky in clubs and bars there. Upon his return to New York (with Lucy), he played clubs in Greenwich Village (such as Gerdes Folk City), and was recorded on compilation albums. Around 1990 Simon stopped performing, deciding to take a sabatical and followed a different life path for the next few years. That path has led to West Virginia where he currently resides. Now he feels that the time is right to get back to the music and has done so with the release of his new self-produced CD called Here I Am.
