Bio

Janet Ritz is an author/composer/environmental activist from Hollywood with a beautiful voice, strong lyrics, wonderful, memorable melodies and richly flawed characters in her stories.

As a musician, Janet has performed with many major artists, including, when she was very young, recording studio background vocals for the band Blue Oyster Cult, and, in past years, with actor Jeff Goldblum's All-Star Jazz Band. Janet is alo an accomplished composer for TV, Film and nationally aired commercials. As a result, you may find the sound of both Janet's music and vocals very familiar to you.

Janet has worked as a copyist/orchestrator for such top artists and producers as Santana, LucasFilm, Eddie Money and many, many others, which has greatly added to the depth and breadth of her talent and experience.

As an author, Janet's first novel, which brings together many different elements into a global adventure story, using complex characters and actual science to discover the solution to the world's dependency on oil, has just been picked up by a top agency and has been offered an option for a major motion picture. She is currently working on her second novel, this one historical fiction showing the parallels between today's conflicts in the Middle East and the events of 2,500 years ago that created them.

For Janet's latest music project, she was able to tie in her concern for the environment by co-writing (with LA composer Jonathan Hayes) and recording the theme song for actor Dennis Weaver's (McCloud and Gunsmoke) environmental movement's international events, called the Hydrogen Drives -- where world famous celebrities and politicians particpate in international caravans with alternative fuel vehicles. The result is the award winning song, "Drive On", which is now getting national airplay, is available on Janet's new CD.

Review of Janet's latest CD from a recent article:

"Janet Ritz, a published singer/songwriter/composer has just completed her latest CD entitled Tough Enough. The music on her new CD was written for various television and film soundtracks and is generating quite a buzz in the industry. Her CD is filled with beautiful songs, melodies that stay with you, with very powerful lyrics. Ritz's band is comprised of the top session musicians in the industry and the music reflects that."
