The music of Hazy Blue combines hooky pop sensibilities with the lyrical intimacy of folk storytelling. Her distinctive voice, noted for its "clean range and husky sensuality" (Showcase Music Times), has contributed to her independent recording success in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her first two CDs, The Hazy Blue Project and Absolution, feature strong melodies and themes that reveal the artist's paradox: seductive innocence, intellectual passion and poetic rage -- an alluring mix ideal for the album oriented rock and adult contemporary radio markets.

Bio

Heidi Elgaard grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. After attending college in Los Angeles, Heidi returned to her Bay Area roots and co-founded the Bay Area pop duo Spirit House. While the group performed live in local clubs including Paradise Lounge and Bottom of the Hill, she and co-writer David Fauvre honed their studio chops by collaborating with members of the Counting Crows and Cerebral Corps (Geffen and Alias recording artists, respectively).

Following the demise of Spirit House, Heidi continued to write her own distinctive brand of melodic pop, rock and folks tunes, and started to perform and record under the name "The Hazy Blue Project." Released in 1996, The Hazy Blue Project CD combines hooky pop sensibilities with the lyrical intimacy of folk storytelling. This 10-song self-produced CD caught the attention of DJs at SF's KFOG and received airplay around the world.

The follow-up album, released under the stage name of "Skye Elgard, Absolution" (1999) shows the artist's more serious side. While the lyrics trend toward the philosophical, the music combines the same infectious pop melodies prevalent in the days of Hazy Blue.

Heidi is in the midst of recording a solo project, with instrumental help from some of San Francisco's finest musicians, including Trey Sabatelli (The Tubes) on drums, and Stan Cotey on guitar.
