The Crisptones Band was started by the brothers Mark & Robin Crisp on the Central Coast of San Luis Obispo, but they were origanally from Visalia, California.
Robin, a guitar player and co writer in the Crisptones Band, also plays lap steel, dobro, piano and most of the lead work. Robin, who's three years older than Mark, was a gigantic musical influence on his younger brother.
"Dugie" a nick name of Mark's, he got as a kid is a guitar player and writes a lot of the songs for the Crisptones, Dugie (Mark) was awarded "Singer, Songwriter of 2007", by the Dallas Song Writers Association. Mark was also top finalist in the Durango Song Writing Contest of 2007 with two songs and was also a finalist in the 11th Annual 2007 Unisong International Song Writing Competition. Mark plays almost all his own guitar work and dabbles in several other instruments. With influences that include Paul McCartney, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills and Nash and other current acts such as Alison Krauss, Dwight Yokum, & Tom Petty, Mark and Rob Crisp's writings are both familiar & new. Mark, at times writes songs with a sense of humor. I'm Just Here To Make You Look Good, a line he got from a bald man who was at a poetry class that was packed with cute young girls. But other songs he's written are bittersweet and touching. When Mark's mother passed away he wrote a tune Mama's Stew, which has created a stir on Music Row. Robin, a part time backhoe operator wrote a song "Best Little Hoe In Town? a really cool rock tune that has a funny bone to it. Mark said. Now, more than ever we love to write record. Going into the studio and coming out with a finished product is pure satisfaction.." Sharp Objects of Nashville has signed both Mark and Robin to songwriting contracts.

Dear Crisptones, just listening to your tune, "These Old Photographs" and gave it 5 stars......nice song, sounds a tad like the Nitty Gritty Dirt band....one of my all time favorite bands.....saw them at the Troubadour numerous times in the late 60's...early 70's. Anyway, if you get a chance stop on by our Broad Jam site and listen to our song, "Pancho Villa's Gold" you might really enjoy it.......has that Mexican border feel with no Walls.............
