I was lucky enough to work with Robin in a band called Champ as a bass player. I recognized his talent way back in the early 80s and recently had a chance to talk with him. His talent is overwhelmingly good and apart from the the 10,000 hours of theory and knowledge (that musicians must endure to free themselves of what I call 'chops and theory obstacles'), he has transcended the typical genres of music to a level of spiritual, ethereal, story-telling that I too have endeavored to emulate. Ultimately, as musicians, we must relieve ourselves of the obstacles of our chosen instrument and 'sing' on our instrument. The instrument is merely the vehicle for expressing what we hear in our minds, imagine, and desire to communicate {tell a story}. I hope to engage again with Robin on a musical journey.

First off thank you Craig. That is a humbling accessment. I realy enjoyed our talk last night which ran on so long that I we were disconecced, I am assuming, by your phone battery going dead. Let's stay in touch!

Indeed, the phone battery went out. Another good identification of troubleshooting on you part. I want to talk again...like tonight.

Still listening. There is a lot of depth to enjoy. As I am listening now, the music goes where I want it to. I think we like the predictability. Over decades of listening music, there always seems to be a harmonic expectation...almost like an equation. or in visual art terms, the eye is drawn into whatever the artist is intending. When unexpected harmony comes, it is a pleasant surprise, and with good music, that surprise makes sense and then becomes an expectation and invokes a familiarity that is, as you say, peaceful and adds to the internal repertoire of now deeper harmonic expectation. Music has been building this harmonic 'memory' mostly in the last 400 years. But with real music (not the 'formulaeic' bullshit) has really exploded, I think since modern harmonies like Gershwin and countless others in new classical, jazz, progressive rock and what I call new music, which I think you are doing. Snarky Puppy, Steely Dan, too many others to mention are 'growing' music. I think Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter plus Mirslav and Jaco, Peter Erskin have been my biggest influence and I never seem to tire of WR after 51 years when I heard them live in Indy at the Rivoli theater. Emerson Lake and Palmer, Beatles journey thru The White Album etc. too changed my harmonic expectation and/or raised the bar on what gives a rush.

Hello Judy,

I apologize for not responding in a timely fashion to your post. I missed the notice probably due to being disconected from email for a few days. Anyway, Thank you for your comment. I would to love to tour my music, but alas those days are are in rear view now. I am retired from performing live, but I have done few live solo pieces on my YouTube channel. "intertwined" in your search should get you there. Thanks again - Robin

Robin Snyder is a worthy composer/musician that I have had the pleasure to have heard some of his recordings and performances in the past. Since then I have just today heard more music that has developed and transcended to even higher levels than before. I am impressed. Robin's music makes good use of sophisticated harmony, fine melodic content, and great guitar timbres that combine to produce a very Awesome musical experience! Thank Much Robin.

The last band I was in was The JuJuBees, We were a regional 9 piece with horns that did old school r&b. We didbanded about 6 years ago. I recently retired and may at some point look to doing something. I am not sure what yet. Thank you for asking. I did a double take when I saw this post seemed to be coming from myself. Pretty funny.

Greg passed last spring. I talked to him twice over the coarse of four weeks. His prognosis was really good. he went in for his first treatment and was gone in four days due to complications. Greg McKey passed away the year before. So sad. My mother in law said to me that the hardest thing about getting old was watching your family and friends go before you. Wisdom there.

Thanks for the heads up. Concerts are difficult these days with my schedule being what is is. Do you know what the date of the Concert is? I am still working on mixes. it will take a while. I am not sure how I will proceed as far as albums go using Tune Core. I have been looking at statistics and commentary on the market and it looks like albums are quickly becoming an audiophiles market right along with high quality audio. MP3s suck! Broadjam at the least needs to up the speed to 256K. I have about ten? new mixes at the top of the list on this site. Unfortunately they are at the prerequisite 192K(ARRRRGGG).

I do like Robin. I owe him a debt of gratitude for providing songs witch provided the freedom to explore my own ideas. In fact the first time I remember losing myself in an improvisation to the point of feeling totally at one with the band and the audience was when I was soloing on "Too Rolling Stoned". It is one of my most cherished "perfect moments". Thanks for sharing!
