Bio

Nicholas Roesler (pronounced RACE-ler) began experimenting with writing songs after moving to Minneapolis post-college; recording many new ideas at home in various apartments on cold winter days. Nick asked drummer-extrodinare, former jazz bandmate, and friend Keith Larsen to lend his talents to make a few recordings during a two-day session at The Den Recorders in Pasadena, CA. One of the resulting songs from this session, "Decision," was chosen for Rift Magazine's (Minneapolis, MN) first CD compilation.

Spurred by the attention that the Rift CD was creating, Nick played live acoustic shows at Lee's Liquor Lounge, Tillie's Bean, MN State Fair, Station 4, Nomad World Pub, Acadia and Loring Pasta Bar while conspiring with good friend and fellow songwriter Casey Virock. In Spring 2007, Nick asked Casey Virock about playing music live as a rock trio. Casey agreed to play bass and suggested getting Jeff Bahr involved in the project. The band made its live debut @ First Avenue's 7th St. Entry, Minneapolis, MN. Since then, the band has played shows at Triple Rock, Uptown Bar, Fine Line, 400 Bar, Hexagon Bar, Ritz Theater, Stasiu's, Nomad World Pub, JB's Speakeasy, Club Underground, Terminal, BarFly, MN State Fair, and The Royal Unicorn(Vancouver). Chicane Theory provided tour support for Adam Franklin (of Swervedriver) and has played music festivals with buzz bands like Tokyo Police Club.

In spring of 2007, "Decision" won a contest and was included on Broadjam.com's College Credit 101: Singer/Songwriter CD. The disc has been played on radio stations nationwide. The song was also licensed to use in Lifetime Television, Oxygen, and MTV network series.

Chicane Theory's debut EP Lose Track of Time was released in January 2008. The record was produced and recorded by Roesler, mixed by Ed Ackerson at Flowers Studio, and mastered by Bruce Templeton at Magneto Mastering. Since its release, the EP received plays on over 200 radio stations across North America and the band were featured guests on both radio and television. The EP continues to receive radio play and press even six months after its release.

Currently work has begun on the group's full length debut, which is due out by year-end.

Past Musical Projects

Casey Virock was the vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and leader of two great midwest bands called Space Bike and Dream 13, which released several recordings, landed on radio playlists, received accolades from the music press, and toured the U.S.--sharing the stage with the likes of: Everclear, Babes In Toyland, Poster Children, The Jesus Lizard, Melvins, Possum Dixon, aMiniature, Frank Black and the Catholics, Arcwelder, The Descendents, Veruca Salt, House of Large Sizes, and Walt Mink.

Without Casey's encouragement, support, and positive influence, Nick's music may never have progressed past a bunch of disjointed sketches.
