You wait long seconds for the sound of the splash. You grasp the handle and with sweat and muscle wind up the rope, then dip into the water with your cup. Cold and clear, the water shocks and delights your lips, your tongue, your throat. The songs on "Water In The Well" will do the same for your ears and your emotions. The songs on "Water In The Well" are mostly about people outside of the mainstream, or damaged in some way by things that have happened or the choices they have made. This does not mean the songs are depressing, because the emotions portrayed include laughter and sorrow, hurt and healing, love and loss. If the road to hell can be paved with good intentions, you can also say that the road to grace and beauty can be found in our bad choices. We all stumble through this life as best we can, and sharing stories through songs is a way of connecting to each other. We don't travel alone. The title track describes songwriting as pulling stories from the well of experience, and how songs can bring the singer and the listener together for a while. The listener is pulled into the stories, and the songs make you care about the characters, even when they make mistakes.
