Chocolate Happy Cake

Chocolate Happy Cake is a watershed album for Tracy in terms of songwriting, poignant lyrics, deft and nuanced keyboard playing, carefully orchestrated and textured performances, and richly expressive vocals. Over the album's 12 intimate tracks, Tracy explores struggles, aspirations, inner journeys, and redemption. Ultimately,Chocolate Happy Cake is an album of hope and personal revelation that traverses majestic piano balladary, ethereal pop, anthemic, pop-rock, orchestral pop, and pastoral roots music all tied to together by Tracy's singular artistry. The song's urgency seems point to a romantic breakup, but Tracy is actually positing another kind of let-go. "It's about getting over internal baggage, and accepting who you are," she shares. It details a narrative of how years ago Tracy quit her miserable job, paid two month's rent, and went on an epiphanic cross country journey. It represents Tracy's invigorating live-for-the-moment spirit, and it also reveals the origins of the album's name. During her trek, Tracy stopped at a friend's house who baked her a chocolate birthday cake while she slept. In the fevered moment of sweet inspiration, the friend left off writing "Birthday" on the cake so Tracy awoke to a delicious treat emblazoned with "Happy Tracy." Chocolate Happy Cake was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Glenn Barratt. Glenn assembled the lineup of musicians, including Michael G Ronstadt (of Ronstadt Generations), well-known Philly bass player Chico Huff, and Erik Johnson and Kevin Hansen, both formerly of the charting modern rock
