Yes Means No is an L.A. based band that formed when Reid Goldin and Robert Cepeda, who spent their youth making films together broke their camera and moved to a new hobby-music. For months the boys worked continuously in Robert's bedroom. It was after about two years of writing that YMN was ready to hit the stages, carrying with them an armada of about 30 songs. Here YMN recruited the help of friends: Maxwell, Luke and Jeffery. They played shows all over Hollywood including The Key Club, The Roxy, The Knitting Factory and the Abbot Kinney Festival. Over the short years, YMN was able to evolve their live show into what audiences have stated are "amazing" with their immeasurably dancy riffs and on stage dancing. In '07, YMN, by themselves, recorded and released their full length L.P. "Hello, If You Wake Up". Must recently, in Nov '07, YMN been voted the #7 indie music band in California according to the public opinionated votes of Ourstage.com (#46 of 600+ indie bands all together).

Yes Means No Bio (Unabridged)

Yes Means No is an L.A. based band that was formed completely on accident. Reid Goldin and Robert Cepeda met as next door neighbors when they were four-years-old, joined in unity as best friends and remained so even to the present day. They spent most of their youth enmeshed in various hobbies, finding their most adventurous being the art of film making. They were well on their way to a career behind a camera lens until the day their camera broke. It was then they were influenced by their empty wallets to pursue the next new hobby—the forming of a rock band.
Working with minimal equipment, they struggled to release their first EP, Lost in the Color Scheme, under the former name Immune. They began to play shows around the L.A. and Hollywood area, ranging from house parties to venues like the Roxy. But feeling that Immune’s work wasn’t up to their own standards, the boys decided to go back under and review what they had done and reinvent their craft, along with their name, which they eventually landed on with Yes Means No.
In the coming years, the boys worked continuously in Robert’s bedroom, using Robert’s brother as their only production influence. It was after about two years of writing that Yes Means No was ready to hit the stages again, carrying an armada of about 30 songs under their belt. It was then that Reid and Robert recruited the help of their close friends Maxwell Strachan, Luke Silas and Jeffery Mahachai to help accompany them for their live performances.
They reentered the public music scene with a bang, playing shows all over Hollywood including The Key Club, The Roxy again, The Knitting Factory and the Abbot Kinney Festival, and have also been played on various radio stations ranging from college stations, to mainstream stations (such as Indie 103.1) and even as far as radio in Spain. Coming back to the scene, Yes Means No acted as a flagship for a new music scene including bands such as Meals for Children, Winesberg and The Histories who they play with regularly.
With their redeveloped sound and presence, Yes Means No was able to evolve their live show into what audiences have admitted to be the prominently uplifting half hour of any show. With their immeasurably dancy riffs, live drums and on stage dancing, it can easily be said that you’ll be promised a good show with Yes Means No.
In the last year however, Reid and Robert climbed back into the hole that is Robert’s bedroom in efforts to record and finally release their full length L.P. “Hello, If You Wake Up” (which includes singles such as “Lamar Odom Will Have His Revenge”, “Right Hand” and "Ghost") which they are currently selling for minimal profit on their myspace. Most recently, in November 2007, they’ve been voted the #7 indie/alternative music band in California according to the public opinionated votes at Ourstage.com (#24 out of 600+ indie/alternative bands all together). Currently Reid and Robert have decided to finally lend their talents to any label looking to take advantage of them. They also thank you for reading this.

Love,
Yes Means No
