Kalmar's musical journey has taken him through various stops in Michigan, Texas, and places in between. Early work with The Hold provided the foundation for his songwriting inspired by touring college towns. Influences not only include the Beatles, but more prominently their derivatives such as Badfinger, ELO, The Raspberries, and later evolutions such as The Dream Academy, The Church and Oasis. Kalmar's studio creations vary from straight-ahead pop/rock, to the dreamy layered melodic mood music that requires incense and a lava lamp - and your choice of poison. Armed with his hollowbody guitars dripping in chorus and the wonders of studio magic, Kalmar takes his solitude into sonic overload with more diversity than a stageful of musicians should create.
