With crunchy elements similar to Alanis Morrissette, bad-girl,
rebellious genius like Ani Difranco and "deal with this" attitude
often associated with Avril Lavigne, Zaba Grace wraps up a chunky,
bristling mix of pop, rock and unapologetic, in-your-face pleasure.
Sonic, soaring, loud and bold, her music draws from various
time-lines in pop and rock and encompasses whatever seems to make a
song fly, with no reservations or inhibitions. Those looking for
gutsy chick rock will find plenty to appreciate in, "My Own Skin."

zaba grace bio
Zaba Grace is unafraid to take risks. Her first step towards making
her debut record “My Own Skin” was nothing less than uprooting her
entire life in Ohio to move to Virginia. Seizing upon an opportunity
to record with producer Chris Kress (Dave Matthews Band, Ben Kweller,
My Morning Jacket, Naked Puritans) Zaba started her entire life over,
finding a new house, a new job, and making new friends. Her second
step was to open her very personal and sometimes painfully revealing
journals to select group of co-writers: Shannon Mier, Lance Brenner
(Naked Puritans), Will Hummel, and Andy Waldeck (Earth to Andy). As
co-writing sessions took place and songs began to take shape Zaba
increased her work-load and began intensive voice lessons maturing
slowly but surely from a total neophyte to a confident vocalist. As
poise and assurance grew in her delivery, recording in Nashville, TN
and Charlottesville revealed bravely intimate remembrances wrapped in
a sophisticated power-pop sheen. In her now fully realized songs,
Zaba pulls no punches with her past to bring you completely into the
experiences of her old life. The problem of evil (God), purging of
pain (Sorry Charlie), the surprise of human grace (Angel and Free) and
the beginning of healing (Broken Heart) are the dominant themes of
this first batch of songs. Take a listen to “My Own Skin” and what
you’ll find is a direct, personal, confessional pop record, the first
result of Zaba Grace’s remarkable personal daring.
