Yonsen Maia Bio

Yonsen Maia is a Brazilian artist who uses the fusion between Hard-Rock guitar techniques and Afro-Brazilian rhythms: Samba, Marcha-Frevo, Igexá, Baião and others. He studied classical guitar for seven years and today, he is a great producer and composer. He has written arrangements for Orchestra, New Pop and Rock Bands and Soundtracks for publicities.


Yonsen has been praised by the Brazilian Press and Great artists: the Brazilian Magazines Guitar Player said: "Yonsen's songs are perfect and mature compositions/arrangements within Prog atmosphere and heavy sonority" and Cover Guitarra said: "these songs are a good example how to absorb influences from the idols without copying their work. Malmsteen take care because there's a Brazilian guy to face him".


The Newspaper "Folha de Londrina" from Curitiba called him "The New Joe Satriani". Great Artists like Arthur Maia, Armandinho, Trio Elétrico Dodô & Osmar, Carlinhos Brown, Edu Ardanui (Dr.Sin) praise the Yonsen's career. Those artists recorded diferent songs at the Album "Across the Universe" that will be release in December.


Recently, Yonsen did a great show before the Master of the instrumental music in the world, Hermeto Pascoal, on Salvador's Instrumental Festival in Brazil.



Yonsen became the first NOTION Music endorsee of Brazil and does workshops at Universities and Schools to put the NOTION Music on the top in his country.


In november, Yonsen released his fourth CD "Sol". He is singing and playing all instruments there. This Album has been produced, recorded and mixed by him. That album was done in his YM Studio in Salvador-Bahia in Brazil. Yonsen has joined the cast of endorsers of "Dharma Guitars", NOTION 3, "ZOOM" ,"Laney" and "TMiranda Effects"


Actually, Yonsen is releasing his fifth CD "Across The Universe" and composing new Soundtracks for TV and Theater!! The Brazilian Rythms mixed with the Hard-Rock Guitar Approachs are the best from Yonsen's Style!
