William Lavigne - Composer


William Lavigne was born and raised in Sudbury Ontario where he began piano studies at an early age with Norma Luck. He is a graduate of the music program of Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario where he studied voice with Marion Harvey and piano with John Hannah and Valerie Candelaria. While a student at Cambrian, William appeared as bass-baritone soloist in a production of Faure's Requiem for CBC Radio Canada with the Cambrian College Choir under the direction of Marion Harvey.

While at the University of Toronto, William studied voice under Bernard Diamant and Patricia Kern, appearing in productions at the University of Toronto's opera school. As a bass-baritone soloist, he appeared in Iolanthe as Private Willis with the Toronto Gilbert and Sullivan Society at Toronto's Hart House Theatre under the direction of Alex Mustakas. William was an active member of the Canadian Opera Company chorus from 1991-2001 and he has also appeared as a soloist in concert performances with Sudbury's community-based Bel Canto Chorus.

William Lavigne is both composer and performer of 16 original piano compositions on his debut CD "Awakening" which was released in early April of 2009.

William currently resides in Toronto.
