Making a tremendous impact on the music industry as a songwriter, producer, vocalist and musician, Warren Lankford blends gospel and contemporary musical influences into a sound that is uniquely his own. This Salisbury, Maryland native's musical background includes 12 years of private piano study and a B. A. Degree with concentration in Music Theory from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
A key part of Lankford's success is his experience in musical theater, having served as Musical Director for productions which include: "Bubbling Brown Sugar," "Robeson," "Black Nativity" and "Two Queens, One Castle." His most recent theater work was serving as musical director for the Galaxy Music Theatre production of "Handel's Messiah-A Soulful Celebration" in December of 2007 and 2008. Lankford also served as an assistant instructor at the Tri-Cities High School Visual and Performing Arts Magnet Program from 1996-2009. This program has produced stars such as Outkast, Kenan Thompson and Xscape, just to name a few. Many students under his tutelage have gone on to successful and productive careers in music and the entertainment industry. Lankford served as musical director for many of the school's theatrical productions, which include: "Dreamgirls," "Once On This Island," "Sarafina," "Purlie," "The Wiz," "The Gospel At Colonus," "Chorus Line" and "Aida." Warren runs his own independent music production company, Lankford Music Corporation, and has over 25 years of studio experience as a session musician and a producer, writing and producing multiple independent projects such as: Prepare For God's Goodness, Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church; Thou Art God, Pastor Eric Taylor; Lord, You Bring Me Joy, The Martin Luther King, Sr. Choir of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church; Divine Time and Divine Season by noted Atlanta harpist Monica Hargrave and All This Time, Rev. Carolyn E. Brailsford, just to name a few. He has also played on recording sessions for popular Atlanta based singer and actress Chandra Currelley and instrumentalist Delores Major. His most recent production has been the CD "Songs of Praise Vol. 1", by singer/songwriter Janet Johnson, released in September 2009. In addition to his role as songwriter/producer, the modest Lankford is able to find the time to make special performances. Some of which include: 1996-Centennial Olympic Games performances; 1993-Reception of Nelson Mandela in Atlanta, Georgia; 1992-Dr. Joseph Lowery's retirement celebration; 1990-Reception for the International Olympic Committee and 1986, he performed at the 100th Birthday Celebration of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
