Vandergraf's music is born from his unusual upbringing and diverse musical interests.

His parents (as well as his Grandparents) were missionary evangelists in Mexico, Haiti and Dominican Republic. His early childhood was spent on the road with his parents, traveling and singing at churches, tent revivals and other venues throughout the United States. His mother played piano and church organ (a Hammond B3 with a Leslie speaker, to be exact). His father played guitar ( 59 Fender Strat & 48 Martin) and trumpet, sang and preached the Gospel until a severe accident with a train laid him up for a few years, as he re-learned to speak and walk again.

We are all only products of our experiences. Vandergraf's music is an expression of his life experiences so far. Wonderings and musings on some of life's oldest subjects.

Bio

Brooks Vandergraf is a songwriter, composer and social commentator.

Brooks Vandergraf was born into a Romanian/Irish family at the age of zero. Using his amazing psychic abilities, he traveled throughout Europe from the age of three, to seventeen, with the Theatrical Rodeo and Carnival Sideshow Symposium, where he amazed and amused visitors with his witty blend of verse, song, and sitting still for long periods of time with his hands folded neatly on his lap.

At age seventeen Mr. Vandergraf found himself deep in studies at “Life Experience College of Bullshit and Knowledge”, where he earned his Masters degree, with a minor in rock and roll.

Having frittered most of his life away with dead-end jobs and hair-brained schemes, he has now settled into a creative pattern of music composition, recording, and general malaise.
