"Ripe sound, deeper understanding of life through sensitive lyrics, smooth vocal melodies and rich musical textures. Hear the beat of pop music, the intensity of progressive rock, the nostalgia feeling of Portuguese music and the spiritual moods of New Age"

Paulo Lara - Singer & Songwriter

Brazilian singer-songwriter Paulo Lara started his career in rock bands in 1992 and gradually developed his work as an interpreter and solo singer. He attended music school for vocal technique & choir practice; and later on went to college (Universidade Livre de Música - Centro Tom Jobim) to study Vocal Theory and Singing.
In 2002 he took part of the Brazilian TV music show FAMA, on Globo TV channel (the format of the show was similar to American Idol). On Christmas 2002 he recorded a Christmas Concert for Rede Vida TV Channel. The show had approximately an hour of duration and it was exhibited several times all over South America. In 2005 he was nominated for the 8th Brazilian Music Visa Awards, singing edition, among more than 3.000 singers in the country. That is considered to be one of the most important and prominent music prizes in Brazil these days. He had his voice known all throughout the country and his work reviewed in newspapers and radio stations.

In 2007 Paulo Lara recorded lead and backing vocals for the animated film Meet the Robinsons (Walt Disney), in the Brazilian version. In the following year he also recorded another song for an episode of the cartoon Phineas & Ferb (Disney Channel) in Brazil.

He recorded the following albums: the live cd La Folia (2002); the single Left to Drift (2003), the live cd Paulo Lara ao Vivo (2004), and the demo cds Polaris (2005) and Bourbons (2007).

Recently, in May 2011, Paulo Lara won the contest Music for the Earth, with his song "Better World". The contest was organized by SonicBids and The Earth Day Network, and Lara's song will now represent the Earth Day all over the world.

From August 2009 to August 2010 the singer produced and recorded his first solo album called "Estrela de Mil Pontas" (Star of a Thousand Points), about the themes of spirituality and life - blending different influences that range from pop music to progressive rock and world music. The album "Estrela de Mil Pontas" was produced and arranged by music producer Flavio Marchesin, from band Megarex (www.myspace.com/megarex) and co-produced by Paulo Lara.
