When Mike was eight years old, the family moved to South Brunswick, New Jersey, their current place of residence. Undoubtedly, Mike discovered his love of music during his first Christmas in New Jersey, when his dad bought the kids a karaoke machine. Mike could be heard for hours upon hours crooning along to Boyz ll Men songs on that machine. In the third grade, his audition as a solo dance act earned him a spot in the school talent show as the grand finale performance. By the fourth grade, he was a regular in school talent shows, often recruiting friends to perform with him in crowd-pleasing dance routines.
When Mike entered high school, he added another talent to his repertoire, singing. His high school years were filled with singing at everything from football games to school assemblies. In his junior year, he single handedly put together a dance troupe named SB2K2 and entered them in the school talent show. The group landed in first place due to a cleverly choreographed routine by Mike to a medley of hip hop songs. To gain further singing experience, Mike joined the choir at a local church, where he diligently helped to create a unique choir for teen mass services. Two years later, he accepted a position as youth choir director, becoming the church’s youngest director to date and a role model in the community. In his senior year, Mike also got the chance, to act, sing and dance when he scored a prestigious role as the scarecrow, in the East Brunswick Academy of Music’s production of The Wizard of Oz.
The summer of 2005 introduced Mike to live entertainment when religious rapper Righteous B invited him to perform at the Proud to Be Catholic concert in Massachusetts. Thousands of teenagers showed up to support the artists and their faith. The concert was deemed a success. At the age of 19, Mike joined a Jersey City based dance company, Breathe, where before long he rose from member to choreographer.

Breathe performed at Hot Import Nights in Atlantic City, Club Avalon in NYC, and at Rutgers University events.
