What I very quickly discovered as the night progressed was that I considered Marazine’s presentation to be nothing short of refreshing. The band’s sound was a post mixture of what seemed like old school remedies and technique fused with the bright and pristine sounds of today’s technology. From song to song I found myself swept along on a journey of emotion- the music filling my head, evoked old memories, present new ideas and induced future possibilities. Take songs like Better Place and No tomorrow that drive forth on a meaty platform, hinting in the lyrics about a world existing outside of our everyday routine that is just waiting for discovery. Other songs such as Obverse and Process of Conscience give a more broken down feeling and play on the more solemn emotions, foretelling or aft telling tales of personal alteration and lost virtue.
