JULIANA BARRIOS - formerly half of the Tropical/Pop duo Bacha, which was nominated for
for a Latin Grammy Award on the category of " Best Contemporary Tropical Album" in 2005-
has been quietly working on her own material since Sony Latin dropped Bacha¡ that year. The
Singer/songwriter's solo debut is worth the wait. Produced by the Cuban guitarrist Ahmed "King" Barroso, "La VIda Se Va" is a lush mix of danceability and nostalgia, peppered with funk and the traditional rhythms of her native Colombia.
Barrios, a graduate of Berklee College Of Music, released the album in April 2009 on her own Mangabiche Records Label, with most of the songs published by her Mangabiche Publishing Company..........

JULIANA BARRIOS

Born and raised in Cali, Colombia.
In 1989 she obtained a degree in professional Music in Berklee College of Music in Boston.

She was special guest at The Boston Globe Jazz Festival with the Band "Maria Maria", nominee in the category for "Best Latin Jazz band", 1988.
She performed at The International Amnesty Concert of Boston with the band T.D.C.O. 1989.

After graduating, she went back to Colombia and started a career as singer, songwriter and actress.

She was invited to The VII Big Band Jazz Festival of Medellin and The Art Festival of Cali, Proartes 1995.
She belonged to the Colombian music group "Propiedad Publica" and sang popular soap opera themes like "La Otra Mitad del Sol", "Perro Amor" and "Porque Diablos".
She was part of the cast in the musical show "Sorprendidas II", the television comedy "Las Marias", and the soap opera "Perro Amor", In this one, she was part of the soundtrack as a singer and songwriter.
She was also the vocal coach for the reality show, "Pop Stars".

Today she lives in Miami and has written songs for Latin artists such as: Sasha (Mexico), Manny Manuel (Puerto Rico) and wrote the Spanish version of the song "No Hace Falta Un Hombre" interpreted by Jaci Velasquez, which was featured in the soundtrack of the film "Chasing Papi .

Later on, she paired up with singer songwriter Jorge Luis Chain. They collaborated and sang the main theme for Telemundo's soap opera: "Anita No Te Rajes". Together they formed the duo "BACHA?" and got nominated to the Latin Grammy Awards 2005, in the category of "Best Contemporary Tropical Album".

In April 2009 the singer /songwriter released her first solo album: "La Vida Se Va", produced by Cuban guitarist Ahmed King Barroso.
Her music is a mix of funk and traditional rhythms of her native Colombia.
