I've been playing guitar since about 1956 when a friend of my parents gave me an old Gretsch Syncromatic. A monster f hole orchestra model. The neck was like a big old oak table leg. I banged around on that for about 8 years.
I liked the stuff they now call rockabilly. They didn't call it that back then. We just called it Rock & Roll. Peter, Paul & Mary were my favorite folk singers. I met them a few times. Through them I became exposed to B Dylan. I never met him, Strange little creature. This was a very creative time for popular music. Lyrics were going every direction. Song styles exploded. The Beatles, Hendrix, From Folk to Psychedelic.

Still working on the next album. Hope to have it finished this year. I have an idea in my head of how I want it to be. If it takes longer then so be it. A blend of the old sound with a slightly modern tinge. I like the old analogue sound.

Where my music come from.

When I was a kid we had a juke box like the one in my photos . I grew up in the backroom of a truck stop. The 1950s & 60s. A small mom & pop operation. The juke box brought the whole world of music to me. Awesome! All the top selling songs from radio stations were on it. Every style. Country & Western, Big Band, Blues, Rock & Roll, Rhythm & Blues. A 24 Hr. operation. The music was playing night & day. My music style is kind of stuck in that era. The blues was a harsher, raw sound. The recording techniques weren't as high of quality. It got my attention & I liked that sound. I still do. With out really trying that's what comes out when I play. I play what I like. If other people like it too then that's great. I'm not going to change my style for dollars. Dollars would be nice, but I don't think I could change If I wanted to. Jed Sparks
