Bio

James Gary has set on a path of his very own.
Having established himself as a respected songwriter in the Australian music scene, James, with his band The Resistance, is creating his own niche ? one which sits conspicuously yet deservedly, alongside his singer/song-writing contemporaries.

With an innate desire for expressing the 'left of centre' elements of humanity, James Gary saw the time was ripe for making his first solo steps toward the close of 1999 and set about crafting the raw, acoustic harmonies that spawned over 30 new songs including such titles as 'Murphy's Law Enforcement Agency' and 'The Boiling Frogs'.

Following the release of the seven track 'albumette' zen SLAP in Feb 2003, James Gary and The Resistance hit the road for a series of tours around Australia gathering rave reviews. Along the way, Gossamer, track 1 of the new EP, is awarded 5th place in the 2002 Australian Songwriters Association Competition, making it two top 5s in the previous two years for James with http://www.cybersex coming in at #4 in 2001.

In 2005, after performing over countless gigs as well as receiving 2 nominations for AWESAM awards, James returned to the studio to record his much anticipated debut album, Harrow Road. Recording continued during 2006 as 24 demos were slowly whittled down to 18 tracks to be fully recorded.

Harrow Road is due for release in late April 2007, and James will tour the UK extensively throughout the year. Many of the album tracks are already available for an early preview and download at broadjam.com. One track and expected first single, Stick in the Mud, the song of a jilted man stranded in a lover?s paradise, has received high praise on Broadjam, resulting in the track reaching #1 on its Alternative Rock Chart, #2 on its Australian Chart and #3 on Broadjam?s Rock Chart during Christmas 2006.

Renowned for his melodic and dynamic approach as a musician, James also weaves a lyric that is at once provocative, tortured, yet hopeful and even tongue-in-cheek.

This independent artist is certain to strike a chord with lovers of pop/rock with real substance.
