Drawing from the minimalist duo influences that are topping the charts, Field & James are composing lyrics and music to the barest musical accompaniments. Field is a classically trained vocalist and pianist while James is an accomplished self-taught guitarist/singer. Their harmonies brush Field's smooth lyrical sound alongside James' bluesy tone to create lush duets interwoven with 12-string guitar.

Field & James are popular area artists with listeners from the VFW to local supper clubs. They perform originals, as well as classic country and popular jazz standard duets. Both artists enjoy music from various genres from jazz, to country, blues and classical. Their music is influenced by greats like George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald to today's contemporary artists.
