Grandmas Stairs

GRANDMAÃ,'S STAIRS
Just hours before my Grandma passed; she sat up straight in her bed.
Her mind had been slipping for the past few years but I'll never forget what she said.
She looked up kind of startled and said lord how am I ever gonna climb all those stairs
I wrote this little song for her, and it's called Grandmas stairs.
(Heaven can hardly wait)

Grandma was a worker, but she loved to sing & dance.

Grandpa was a good man, (we know who wore the pants.)

He spent his life time building, or working on a boat.

She did her best, without much rest, to keep their dreams afloat.

[With 7 hungry mouths something's always cooking on the stove

But you could still always hear her singing & watch her dosie doe.

When my Grandpa died & left, we still lived on the farm.

To help my Grandma up the stairs, I'd lend her my arm.

I still smell ham & the pineapples, how her laughter filled the air.

I hear her sing & see her dance, her spirit's everywhere.

[With 7 hungry mouths something's always cookin on the stove,
But you could still always hear her sing & watch her dosie doe. ]
~B R E A K ~
(When he sees her silver hair)

Well I know my Grandpa's gonna smile, when he see's her silver hair.

& I know that he'll lend her an arm, to help her up those stairs.

For she's on her way to heaven now, & we should tip our hat's,

cause Grandma's been "gone" way to long,

& Grandpa wants her back.

[With 7 hungry mouths something's always cookin on the stove,
But you could still always hear her singing & watch her dosie doe.

Now don't cry because Grandma's gone, she's right where she belongs.

She's singing past those golden stairs,... dancing in, my Grandpas arms.
[Chorus]
There they go, dancing past the pearly gates, Hand n hand up Grandma's stairs

Doin Time

Doin time
(Hammer E & pull off E to begin)

(E) G A E G A E
I came home early the other evening, in the middle of the night.
G A E G A E
I rolled into the driveway, I knew that something wasn’t right.
G A E G A E
I opened up the door, & I walked on in.
G A E G A E
I hung up my coat, and the trouble soon began.
D A E
( I came home, opened the door, & the trouble began)

[ G A E ] [ G A ]
D A E
( I came home, opened the door, & the trouble began)

Now I’m just an average man, with an average life.
I don’t look for trouble, & I don’t start no fights.
I’ve been working hard, all of my damn life.
A roof over my head, & 3 squares is fine.

(Don’t look for trouble, been working hard, 3 squares is fine)
( REPEAT )
I smelled candles burning, and the lights were turned down low.
Shadows in the bedroom, with a warm soft glow.
I started thinking about my baby, & that my timing was right.
She’s got in store for me some good lovin, good love for me tonight.

(Candles burning, soft glow, for me tonight.)
( REPEAT )
~ BREAK ~

I walked into the bedroom, and I saw the curtains sway.
My baby looked at me, you know her smile was out of place.
I said baby, baby! What’s going on..
She looked down at the ground, I knew then she’d done me wrong

(I walked in, She looked downs, he’d done me wrong)
( REPEAT )
So now I’m doing time, behind these four walls.
I aint got no porch, and there’s bars on my door.
But that cheating women, brother I aint lying.
She won’t cheat no more, in the middle of the night.

(I’m doing time, there’s no porch, She won’t cheat no more.)
( REPEAT )
